Thermoplastic elastomer, abbreviated TPE or TPR, is an abbreviation of Thermoplastic rubber. It is an elastomer that has the elasticity of rubber at room temperature and can be plasticized at high temperature. The structure of thermoplastic elastomers is characterized by chemical bonds composed of different resin segments and rubber segments, resin segments form physical crosslinking points by inter-chain force, and rubber segments are highly elastic chain segments, contributing to elasticity. The physical crosslinking of the plastic section changes reversibly with the change of temperature, which shows the plastic processing characteristics of the thermoplastic elastomer. Therefore, the thermoplastic elastomer has the physical and mechanical properties of vulcanized rubber and the processing properties of thermoplastic plastics, and is a new polymer material between rubber and resin, often referred to as the third generation rubber.
